Laughlin

Hon. Lee Laughlin

Hon. Lee Laughlin was president of the McMinnville National Bank beginning January 1897. He was vice-president from his beginning until 1897. He was born in Lincoln county, Missouri in 1833, and crossed the plains to Oregon in 1847. In 1848 he was a prosperous miner of gold in California. Laughlin enlisted in the Indian war in 1855 under Captain Hembree, and was with the captain when he was shot. He spent twenty years as a merchant in North Yamhill. He was county assessor in 1860, and was elected to the state legislature in 1874 and again in 1880. Mr. Laughlin is prominent in pioneer circles and was generally known and respected by Oregon's best people.
